Smart Thermometer New and Improved
With the constantly evolving technologies and improvements with the home cooking appliances, we at CHEF iQ heard your concerns with only having 1 probe to monitor your cooks. Most of our users requested to get more probes to monitor the same cook or multiple cooks at the same time, but didn’t want a new hub for each probe.
For these users we created the multi hub, depending on your level of cooking and how many probes you need we now support up to 3 probes, with more features to come in the future.

Problem
With adding additional hub states to our product line, our current flows and illustrations will need to be updated to address the new hub states. Locate all the areas where the designs and flows would be affected within the app and update accordingly.
Design - Hand off Logic
Initial Probe Setup
-Smart Thermometer GIF will be displayed when user first enters this screen. This Gif will specific to the hub based on detected hub.
-Detect which hub the user has and provide the user with correct copy of “Probe” for Single hub or “Probes” for Double or Triple hub.
-User does not need to add all or any probes included with Hub to continue with onboarding process via “Not Now”.
-If user stays on register probe page with no actions for more than 1 minute show the “Don’t see your probe?” which will lead the user to troubleshooting.
-If all the nests are filled with their corresponding probes, we will not show “Don’t see your probes” after the 1 minute of inactivity.
Probe Registration
-If user inserts a probe, the ghosted probe will register to the one they have input in the hub.
-If Users has a Double or Triple Hub they can insert as many probes allowed in the hub to register. These probes will appear under the previous probe.
-Once a user inserts a single probe in hub the CTA for “Register Probe” will become available.
-If any error occurs when users inputs a probe display corresponding error message.
-For Double and Triple hubs continue to show the “Searching your probes loader” till corresponding number of probes are loading into the hub (2 for Double, 3 for Triple)
*With the addition of a analytic tracker to see if the user registers one probe at a time and has to come back to register the other or registers all at once with the hub types.*
Probe Registration - Loading
-While a user is registering a probe the “Register Your Probe” CTA will be come inactive with a loader symbol.
-All probes will have loader while registering
Registration Successful
-When Registration is complete a check mark will appear with each probe.
-Once a probe/s are registered, the users has the option to add additional probes, with the secondary CTA “Add more Probes”. To continue with onboarding the user will need to tap the CTA “Next”.
Setup Complete
-The Setup Complete Screen will remain the same as currently existing.
-Tips CTA will send the user to improved video animation of Smart Thermometer.

Additional Probes State
-Adding a copy of “You can register up to # more probes” with a count of how many slots remaining.
-Depending on hub type we will allow the user to register more than one probe if there is multiple slots available within the hub.
-Even if the user attempts to add more than 3 probes to their hub keep the “Register Your Probes” active, but navigate the user to the Max Limit Probe Error Screen
Probe Already Registered
-If users put an already registered probe into the hub, we show the following copy, as well as turning the visual probe to have a check mark signifying the probe has been registered. With having the primary CTA “Register your Probe” unavailable.
-In the instance of a registered probe and a unregistered probe, we will keep the registration copy and allow the user to register their un registered probe. The registered probe will be displayed with a check and will not block the user from registration and will not be registered again.
Probe Error - Unexpected
-Change title of the existing “Registration Failed” to “ Unexpected Error”
-This Error Occurs while Registering a Probe, we will display in the copy which probe has an error and block the user from continuing. Then we will ask them to try the error probe again.
-Display only the error probe with cross mark next to it for a visual representation to inform the user which probe there is a error.
-With all hubs inform the user within the copy of which probe is being effected. by stating “Please remove probe # from charging…”
-If all 3 probes fail change the copy to “Please remove all probes”.
-Display Error message above primary CTA, incase of multiple Errors display “Errors: Tap to see more info.” this will bring up a small pop-up that will display corresponding information. This popup can be closed via tap anywhere on the screen.
-Note: This screen will be static for the user, even if a probe is removed there will be no visual update. This will allow the user to look further into the error.
-CTA of “TRY AGAIN” will return the user back to Register your probe page.
Probe Error - Max Limit
-If the user has 3 probes registered to their hub, we will display “Max Limit Reached” drawer when the user attempts to add a additional probe.
-As well as if a user attempts to add more than 3 probes while not having 3 probes registered prior we will display “Max Limit Reached” drawer and inform them that probes exceed the hub limit.
-On tap of the deregister a probe button the user will be brought to the “Remove Probe” screen were they can select which probe to remove.
Pop-up - Firmware Incompatibility
-While a user attempts to register their probe and we detect a firmware incompatibility issue we will now show to the user a pop-up.
-If more than one probe is detected within the hub that needs to be updated change the # within the pop-up to represent the specific probes, as well as in the copy.
-Note: This screen will be static for the user, even if a probe is removed there will be no visual update. This will allow the user to look further into the error.
-CTA of “TRY AGAIN” will return the user back to Register your probe page.
Pop-up - New Probe Detected
-While user enter a single probe that is not registered while not in onboarding or additional registration, we will show this pop-up which will allow quick registration.
-For the same instance, but while a user enters multiple probes not registered, this pop-up will correct the copy of “probe” to “probes” , “it” to “them”.
-While the probe is detected display the probe number on the probe within the pop-up.
-For the use case of multi probes: if a probe fails once, we will have a try again button that will navigate the user to the registering screen.
